Church Welfare

The LDS church believes in taking care of their own. And, they also give generously to humanitarian projects around the world and to non members. They believe that a person in need should first turn to their immediate family, then to extended family, third to the church, and the government as a last resort. That is one reason why Utah has a low rate of citizens using government welfare services. Their welfare program is unique. For example, they have graineries, farms, and food packing plants, and many other factories that provide for people that are in need. If you need welfare, the church will have someone in your area meet with you to help determine your needs and to help you become self reliant.
